Podcast: US economy’s solid ground despite Q1 GDP slowdown

The U.S. economy lost a little momentum in the first quarter, but the underlying trends remain solid. Spending by consumers remains the most buoyant part of the growth story, fed by strong job gains and rising incomes. Nationwide’s Senior Economist Ben Ayers and Economist Daniel Vielhaber discuss the Q1 GDP data and share their outlook for rest of 2024 including if a recession is off the books this year.
